‘Introduction’

Welcome to Feather & Down, a new company that primarily specialises in Licensed art on cushions.  All of the cushions are approximately 43cm square (17”).  The art cushions are digitally printed on 100% reverse cotton sateen to give the appearance of canvas and handmade in the UK to an extremely high standard, with great care to match the original work of art in colour and detail.  Each cushion has a plain coloured cotton backing and is zipped.  Feather & Down can also accommodate specialist commissions from original art and, dependant on copyright restrictions, will negotiate licensing fees.  For exclusive commissions including varying sized cushions up to 40” square, with or without trims, plus shipping costs to countries other than UK, Europe, or USA, please e-mail requirements to denise@featheranddown.co.uk

The Art Subjects

Girl with a Pearl Earring by Jan Vermeer, c.1665-6.  The much loved photo realistic portrait shows a young girl with an exotic headdress and plain jacket wearing a tear shaped pearl earring.

Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci, c. 1503-6.  The most famous painting in the world which is housed in The Louvre, Paris.  It was Leonardo’s favourite painting.

Signing the Register by Edmund Blair Leighton (1853-1922).  The stunning bride signing the marriage register witnessed by her groom and wedding party.

Empress Eugenie and her Ladies in Waiting by Franz Xavier Winterhalter (1806-73).  Beautiful fashion icon of the 1850’s / 60’s and fascinated by Queen Marie Antoinette.

The Golden Death Mask of Tutankhamun.  Solid gold funerary mask of the Boy King who was buried in the Valley of the Kings in 1349BC with a gigantic treasure until it was discovered in 1922.
